Paralectotypes: BMNH 1907.7.6.2-4 (3), ?1905.6.9.10-11 (now 1); CAS 36384 [ex IU 10795a, ex CAS 24752] (1), 36453 [ex IU 10795, ex CAS 24753] (1, missing); NMW 46732 (1). Portuguese on p. 35. Lectotype designated by Britski 1969:206 [ref. 12401]. Prior lectotype designation by Ellis 1913:409 [ref. 1270] of IU 10795 does not clearly specify which of two specimens is to be considered as "type" and is, therefore, not valid. •Valid as Corydoras eigenmanni Ihering 1907 -- (Isbrücker 2001:224 [ref. 26805]). •Synonym of Corydoras barbatus (Quoy & Gaimard 1824) -- (Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:202 [ref. 6910], Reis in Reis et al. 2003:295 [ref. 27061]). •Valid as Scleromystax barbatus (Quoy & Gaimard 1824) based on placement of barbatus. = Scleromystax barbatus (Quoy & Gaimard 1824). Callichthyidae: Corydoradinae.
