Upper rio Paraguai at Corumbá (19°00'S, 57°25'W), trib. of Rio Pilcomayo, Rio Paraguay system, Mato Grosso, Brazil. Holotype: CAS 67915 [ex IU 10129]. Paratypes: (7) AMNH 1232 (1), CAS 67916 [ex IU 10130] (orig. 5, now 1, missing), CAS 77305 [ex IU 10129] (2, now 1), FMNH 52619 [ex CM 948] (1), NMW 46698 (1), ZMB 17248 (1). Type catalog: Ibarra & Stewart 1987:27 [ref. 12367]. Questionably valid as Corydoras australis Eigenmann & Ward 1907 -- (Isbrücker 2001:221 [ref. 26805]). •Synonym of Corydoras hastatus Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1888 -- (Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:213 [ref. 6910], Reis in Reis et al. 2003:298 [ref. 27061]). Corydoras hastatus Eigenmann & Eigenmann 1888. Callichthyidae: Corydoradinae. Habitat: freshwater.
