No types known, and species not included in subsequent detailed work (Steindachner 1879 [ref. 4228]), but may be referable to Corydoras marmoratus found in main work [ref. 4228] but not abstract [ref. 20480]. Original entry as "Corydoras maculatus Steind. = Coryd. (Callichthys) punctatus Valenc. partim, nec. Bloch.". See also Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:204 [ref. 6910]. Synonym of Corydoras paleatus (Jenyns 1842) -- (Nijssen & Isbrücker 1980:204 [ref. 6910], Reis in Reis et al. 2003:301 [ref. 27061]). •Doubtful species -- (Isbrücker 2001:229 [ref. 26805]).
