Etymologie:
Benannt ist dieser Aspidoras zu Ehren des Direktor des National Museums von Rio de Janeiro, Dr. Antenor Leitao de Carvalho, der den beiden Ichthyologen Nijssen & Isbrücker viele Aspidoras-Arten als Leihgabe überließ.

Größe:
In der Erstbeschreibung wird eine Standardlänge von 25,4 mm angegeben. Es handelt sich um den Holotyp.
